I met Claire whilst we were both inpatients at UCLH and she was in the room opposite me. Whenever anyone went into her room the energy and chatter literally burst out, and I said to one of the nurses (the lovely Bert), is there a member of royalty in that room, its like a party anytime someone walks in!!! His reply was, that it wasn’t royalty, it was Claire and he insisted we meet! He arranged for a clandestine meeting ( we were both in isolation and highly vulnerable) so we met, masked up, at a  distance! Her positivity echoed mine, her enthusiasm for life, her determination to beat this disease oozed from every pore…. We bonded straight away. I will continue to fight for the both of us, of that I promise.
